Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk believes forward Mohamed Salah is not only about chasing personal accolades.

The Egyptian is enjoying a stellar season at club level, and took Egypt to within a penalty shootout of winning the African Cup of Nations.

Both Salah and Sadio Mane, who won that competition with Senegal, were on the scoresheet in a 6-0 thumping of Leeds United in midweek.

Asked about Salah chasing scoring records, Van Dijk told the club's website: "He [Salah] is chasing records but he knows that first and foremost we want to achieve good things during this season.

"He has a big part to play in that with his goals, but also with his defending, with his work-rate and stuff.

"Obviously two goals again, Sadio two goals again, so an incredible game for them."
