"Among the items seized were two units of mobile phones and a Maybank ATM card belonging to the suspect. Our investigation discovered that there were 13 other police reports related to this case and the total loss was RM24,440," he said in a statement.

Aibee said the suspect had been active in the fraud syndicate for the past two years, following a police report received by the Commercial Crime Investigation Division, IPD Nilai on Aug 21, 2020 involving an RM1,214 fake hotel voucher that was claimed to have been for the famous Lexis Hibiscus Hotel in Port Dickson.

The public is therefore advised not to be fooled by such modus operandi of offering hotel vouchers that are seemingly much cheaper than the usual rates. Always check with relevant hotel or travel agencies before making any purchase.
