KUALA LUMPUR – With four days to go until Johor’s nomination day, DAP unveiled another two candidates for Yong Peng and Senai, respectively.
In a Twitter post today, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said former Senai assemblyman Alan Tee Boon Tsong will be running for the Yong Peng state seat, following the retirement of incumbent Chew Peck Choo.
Lim said Chew had decided on his retirement to provide an opportunity for youth leadership.
“Thank you to former Yong Peng assemblyman Chew, who has served his area well. He (Chew) has declared his retirement to pave the way for the younger leaders.”
Lim added that besides being a former Senai assemblyman, Tee is an activist who has initiated some improvement to the local landscape.
Meanwhile, 36-year-old Wong Bor Yang will be vying for the Senai seat in place of Tee.
Lim said that Wong, who is a special officer to Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching, is no stranger to serving the constituency due to his experience as a Kulai councillor.
He also expressed his continued hopes for the party and its candidates, reiterating that the combination of fresh and experienced personalities will bring about good news for Johoreans.
“I am confident that with the coupling of new candidates and former elected representatives, Pakatan Harapan will continue to provide excellent service to the people.
“We aim to solve problems faced by the people while raising their dignity and realising their dreams.”
Nomination is on February 26, while polling is on March 12 and early voting on March 8.
On February 19, DAP revealed that it will be running Segamat-born businessman M. Kanan in the Bekok state constituency.
DAP had earlier notified that Yeo Tung Siong will contest in Pekan Nanas, while Ng Yak Howe runs in Bentayan.
Incumbents for Stulang and Johor Jaya – Andrew Chen Kah Eng and Liow Cai Tung – will be defending their respective seats.
Tangkak incumbent Ee Chin Li, with Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali (Paloh), Chew Chong Sin (Mengkibol) and Gan Peck Cheng (Penggaram), will also be defending their seats next month. – The Vibes, February 22, 2022
