Queen Elizabeth II down with Covid-19, symptoms ‘mild’

KUALA LUMPUR – Queen Elizabeth II has tested positive for Covid-19, according to Buckingham Palace, but will continue to carry out light duties at Windsor Castle.

The 95-year-old monarch is “experiencing mild cold-like symptoms but expects to continue light duties at Windsor over the coming week”.

“She will continue to receive medical attention and will follow all appropriate guidelines,” said the palace.

Just last week, the heir to the throne and her eldest son Prince Charles, 73, met the queen and was later reported to have contracted Covid-19 for the second time.

Queen Elizabeth’s health is a constant topic for royal watchers, especially after she became the United Kingdom’s longest reigning monarch, celebrating her platinum jubilee of 70 years on February 6.

She has cut down her public appearances over the years after doctors advised her to “slow down”.

Last October, she was hospitalised for a night for an unspecified ailment. – The Vibes, February 20, 2022
