Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola admits Joao Cancelo was "a pain" when first arriving.
Cancelo is now regarded by many as the best wing-back in the world and has just signed a new deal to 2027.
Guardiola said, "Everyone knows how important he is and what he did.
"It was a pain at the beginning, we didn't agree on many things, Sometimes due to my mistakes but now he's happy and will play here for the next seasons.
"He can play in many positions, every day. He's also a fun person, a locker room man."
