Liverpool's senior players had to warn Harvey Elliott to calm down when he first returned to training.

Elliott has shone in successive cameos after returning from almost five months out with a fractured ankle.

However, there were times when Liverpool had to quell the eagerness of the youngster following his injury.

"After he had his operation everyone had to tell him to calm down a little," said Robertson.

"I think he wanted to go to the next game which was a day after his operation, and we were saying 'Harvey, there's time for that'.

"But since then he has worked so hard to get back on the pitch. He has been so focused and determined to get back as quickly as possible.

"He is in great shape and when he comes back in training, it's as if he has never been gone. It's as if he didn't lose any sharpness. He'll be important for us in the run-in."
