Sabah Bersatu deputy chief mum over Zahid’s ‘snake’ accusations

KOTA KINABALU – Sabah Bersatu has opted to not respond to the recent broadside from Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who claimed that the Umno splinter party was a “snake” which had broken electoral pact promises.

Sabah Bersatu chief Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor continues to be evasive over the matter but his deputy, Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, told reporters that there was nothing to respond to over these attacks.

Last week, Umno chief Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had called Bersatu and its leader, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, a snake which is trying to kill Umno softly.

Zahid did not name Muhyiddin specifically but had identified the Bersatu leader as “Abah” in his speech.

The Umno politician also accused Bersatu of breaking a gentleman’s agreement by not giving Umno the chief minister’s post after the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah pact won the Sabah election.

The Bagan Datuk MP made those remarks at the launch of the PBRS convention held recently at the Hakka Hall in Likas.

Masidi dismissed Zahid’s rhetoric as just political talk and refused to acknowledge whether it was made in view of the upcoming Johor election.

“Politicians just want to talk whatever they want. Eventually, people will judge them, not just by what they do, but also the stuff they actually said,” he told reporters here today.

Asked whether Zahid was attacking Bersatu to influence the outcome of the Johor polls, Masidi said he was not sure and, in jest, added, “Politicians are very funny people who would talk things no one expected they would talk.” – The Vibes, February 15, 2022
