Leeds United rejected the chance to sign a midfielder yesterday.
The Yorkshire Post says Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek could have signed for Leeds instead of Everton.
Van de Beek and Tottenham's Harry Winks were both offered, but neither appeared to match Marcelo Bielsa's exacting standards.
Instead, van de Beek joined Everton, and could make his home debut against Leeds next week.
Bielsa was adamant going into the window he would not sign players unless they were better than he already had.
