Manchester United have blocked Watford's attempt to secure Dean Henderson on loan.

The Hornets, now managed by Roy Hodgson, attempted to secure the England shot stopper at the 11th hour of the transfer window deadline day.

The 24-year-old has barely featured for United this season, given the form of David De Gea.

However, the Manchester Evening News reports that Henderson was not allowed to leave, as United do not want to risk a De Gea injury leaving them short in that position.

Henderson's future is likely to come up for debate in the summer, as the player wants to gain regular first-team football and compete for a place in the England squad for the World Cup in Qatar in the winter of 2022.
