Manchester City may wait longer before adding new signing Julian Alvarez to their squad.
The Argentina international joined City last month before being loaned back to River Plate to June.
However, Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says Alvarez could have his loan extended to January.
River want to keep Alvarez through to the start of the December World Cup.
Alvarez signed for City on deadline day in a €17m deal.
