Senegal have been crowned African Cup of Nations champions for the first time after a penalty shootout win over Egypt.

Sadio Mane saw his early penalty saved by Egypt keeper Gabaski, who was later crowned man-of-the-match.

But the Liverpool forward had his moment of redemption by scoring the winning penalty in the shootout.

It was a deserved victory for Senegal, who were the better team for 120 minutes.

Gabaski was immense for his country but ultimately it was counterpart Edouard Mendy who was the hero of the shootout.

The Chelsea goalkeeper denied Mohanad Lasheen to set up Mane's winning strike.

Aliou Cisse's side redeemed themselves after going down to Algeria in the 2019 final.
