Kota Kinabalu: State Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun has assured that the State Government will remain firm in defending Sabah’s oil and gas rights and said he would even "bang the table" when he was unhappy during negotiations on the matter.
Masidi said during commercial agreement negotiations with Petronas, as the chief negotiator, he was helped by professionals and things were done professionally.
“About gas, do not worry, I can say that I am not that smart…I am just a villager, a Dusun from Ranau, ‘orang bukit’ (people from the hills), but I can tell you, during the entire negotiations, I held my head high,” he said during a question-and-answer session at the State Legislative Assembly sitting, here, Monday.
“I defend Sabah, I make sure Sabah gets what it deserves…I would walk out of the meeting if I am dissatisfied, I would bang the table if I am not satisfied because to me, what is important is Sabah.”
He was responding to Senallang assemblyman Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal’s supplementary question about how serious the State Government was in protecting its oil and gas rights.
