Sabah GLCs must pay minimum of RM1 mil in dividends yearly: CM

TUARAN – The Sabah government today said all of its government-linked corporations (GLCs) will each be required to pay a minimum dividend of RM1 million annually starting this year, as the state administration looks to boost its coffers to fund development.

Last year, Sabah earned a record revenue of nearly RM5 billion, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said when tabling the 2022 state budget.

Hajiji said in a statement today that the state government intends to use the GLC dividends to “bring more development to the people”.

He said the government will also work on boosting investments in Sabah to help fast-track development in the state.

“We need investors to come in. Investors come in bringing money to do their project and this will have an immediate impact for the people,” said Hajiji, who is also state finance minister.

Hajiji said the government has attracted over 10 firms to invest in Sabah since launching its Sabah Maju Jaya development blueprint about 18 months ago. – The Vibes, March 28, 2022
