Diogo Jota kept alive Liverpool's hopes of a quadruple with a late winner against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday.

The Reds dominated possession but Nottingham Forest - who had previously knocked out Leicester City and Arsenal - were stubborn in defence.

Roberto Firmino should have put the visitors ahead before half-time but could not convert his header.

It didn't matter however as Jota pounced on Konstantinos Tsimikas' cross from the left with 12 minutes remaining.

Forest were left ruing the goal as Philip Zinckernagel missed a promising chance just a few minutes earlier.

The Championship club saw a late penalty appeal turned down by VAR when midfielder Ryan Yates fell after a challenge with Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson.

Speaking after the game, Reds manager Jurgen Klopp said: "That was a proper cup match. Massive compliment for Steve Cooper and his team.

"We should have played better but they made it really difficult. They had moments but then we went 1-0 up. We came though and I'm really happy."
