COMING out of nowhere to spice up a pretty staid affair was none other than Will Smith's hand to slap Chris Rock's face over a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. 'The Slap' as it will forever be known (despite some attempts to label it 'The Smack') overshadowed a pretty predictable Academy Awards ceremony. While the aftermath is yet to settle, it will undoubtably go down as a moment in Hollywood history, as well as an unforgettable live TV moment.
And as is normal in this day and age, there was an avalanche of memes, some of which are still being birthed as you read this.
Rock's joke about Jada Pinkett Smith did not go down well with Will Smith. The comedian, who was on stage to give the Oscar for the best documentary, was subjected to a surreal slap in the face by 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,' in front of an audience of totally stunned stars who initially treated the event as joke. After all, who could believe something like this could actually happen.
On social networks, memes inundated the web, comparing Will Smith's slap to the famous meme of Batman slapping Robin. And the reactions of Lupita Nyong'o and Nicole Kidman drew much response from internet users.
