Norway's player analyst Andrew Findlay says the impact of Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard goes beyond statistics.

Englishman Findlay studies all of Ødegaard's matches. But he thinks we should look at more than stats for the midfielder.

"Many, really too many, assess him on numbers," he told VG.

"That's how it is with many players, but if you look at what he does for the team, he is often the one with the third or fourth last ball before the last pass or finish. It is also often his run that opens up space for other players. He creates a lot of problems for the opponent to take positions where he does not get the ball."

He also commented on Ødegaard's play without ball.

"It is quite clear and is of clear value to the team. He is often used as the first press player and is a key in Arsenal's defensive structure. He is involved in deciding the organisation and puts the intensity in the pressure."
