Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah People’s Rights Association received complaint from traders at Pekan Baru Penampang, saying that some of the drain steel covers located on the sidewalk in front of the shops have gone missing, while others were rusty.
The traders reasoned that drains without covers are particularly dangerous at night especially in a dark area with no lights.
The complainant has brought the matter to the authorities six times, but has fallen on deaf ears.
Sabah People’s Rights Association President Lee Pun Yee is aware of the situation and has gotten in touch with the Penampang District Council to inspect the matter and solve the problem as soon as possible.
Executive Officer Robert Malangkig and Engineer Jonathan Lindua had gone to the scene to inspect the drains and promised that the matter would be resolved soon.
As such, Lee extended his gratitude to them for their assistance and efficient service.
