Malaysia sees slight decline in daily caseload at 27,004

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 caseload and reported deaths have eased slightly to 27,004 cases and 86 victims, respectively. 

With the latest caseload, the country’s cumulative total inches closer to the four million mark with 3,927,437 infections.

Of the reported deaths, 35 are classified as brought-in-dead.

Selangor remains the state with most daily cases, logging 7,558 infections, followed by Kuala Lumpur (3,266), Penang (2,315), Johor (1,990), Kedah (1,916), Negri Sembilan (1,882), Perak (1,561), Sarawak (1,484) and Pahang (1,434).

Meanwhile, Kelantan has 863 cases, followed by Sabah (769), Terengganu (764), Melaka (750), Perlis (171), Putrajaya (150) and Labuan (131).

Malaysia also logged another nine clusters, namely Penang’s Jalan Kg Baru detention centre cluster with 103 cases and a positivity rate of 83.1%. 

This is followed by Melaka’s Industri Ayer Keroh 2 workplace cluster with 51 cases, Kuala Lumpur’s Jalan Segambut Lentang 2 workplace cluster with 41 cases as well as Negri’s Jalan Perusahaan Utama workplace cluster logging 34 cases.

Five of the new clusters are high-risk group related – Selangor’s Jalan TPP Empat cluster with 46 infections and Dua Jalan Padang Golf cluster has 40 cases.

As for the rest, Pahang’s Desa Damai cluster has 19 cases, Persiaran Putra 16E cluster recorded 18 infections, while Penang’s Lorong Kapal 2 has seven cases. – The Vibes, March 18, 2022
