Wolves boss Bruno Lage rapped Ki-Jana Hoever after defeat to Crystal Palace.
The fullback was forced off after 24 minutes due to injury.
"Ki is a good example of a talent without patience," said Lage afterwards.
"A talent that sits behind his competitor on the bench, does not train with full intensity, is not optimally prepared ... If you get a chance, these kinds of things happen.
“I have too many young players on my team who sometimes don't do the work they should. When they're training, they often think: 'oh, I'm not playing anyway' … I've had them from day one that I've been told here that they should always keep working hard. Your first goal is to develop yourself.
"I'm not going to waste my time on guys who don't work hard enough, they need to understand that… This warning is not just for Ki, but for all the youngsters we have on our team."
