JOHOR BAHRU: DAP Youth said it is obvious that Parti Warisan Sabah is helping Umno, if not Bersatu, to split votes in Pakatan Harapan seats by only contesting in the six seats currently held by PH in the imminent Johore election.

Democratic Action Party Socialist Youth (Dapsy) Sabah Bureau Chief of Millennials, Chan Loong Wei, said even Sabah Umno Youth Chief Abdul Aziz Julkarnain praised Warisan’s expansion to the peninsula.

“I wonder why suddenly even Umno is praising Warisan?” he said, adding DAP never rejected any opposition parties from contesting in peninsula as this is every party’s democratic right.

“However sadly, Warisan did not want to cooperate with the opposition and contesting in all six seats won by Pakatan Harapan in 2018 in this Johor State Election.

“Therefore, the statement by Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) Vice President Kenny Chua is totally baseless, because DAP has always been upholding the spirit of democracy and diversity,” he said.

Chua had questioned why DAP was protesting against Warisan’s presence in Johore but yet wanted to be present in Sabah.

Chan said DAP Sec-Gen Lim Guan Eng welcomed Warisan’s expansion to Peninsular Malaysia and DAP is committed to unite all the opposition forces to fight against the Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.

Chan was also puzzled why Chua who betrayed the Warisan-led government previously is now backing Warisan.

“Is it not fishy that a GRS leader is supporting (Warisan President) Shafie and its decision to fight against PH in Johor? Is it because it benefits Umno and its partners?” he asked.

He said DAP and fellow PH parties have been consistent in advocating for unity among opposition forces since the Sheraton Move.

“We welcomed Upko as our new coalition partner since then and also now we are working together with Muda in Johor to fight against the Umno tyranny.

“Opposition parties must unite to prevent Umno and their ‘court cluster’ from returning to power.

“Star and Chua can come to contest in the peninsula if they desire to and we will not stop them.

“However, this would not change the fact that Warisan is only contesting in PH seats and trying to divide the opposition and benefit Umno-PN,” he said.
