Constant rainy days for the past week in Kelantan and Terengganu have caused many victims to be evacuated out of their homes and to temporary flood relief centers.

As of now, over 22,833 flood victims are forced to be shifted due to the current flash flood in a total of 12 districts located in Kelantan as well as Terengganu.

Despite the struggles of being a flood victim, a quick-witted netizen decided not to go with the flow and instead had invented a temporary block to redirect floodwaters.

Recently, a video went viral on Twitter when someone filmed an invention while being in the middle of a flash flood at Kampung Bukit Abal, Pasir Putih.

The first half of the clip shows water gushing towards him, and as he turns to his back, the second clip reveals a temporary barricade built by a residence of the area to redirect the water.

The barricade looks like it’s built with huge sacks of sandbags stacked on top of another, and covered by a really wide sheet of plastic while 2 wooden poles are built behind the sandbags for support.

The resident completed his masterpiece with heavy rocks to hold everything in place.

It can be a simple creation nonetheless, making sure it works and adapting to such a tragic situation deserves a medal already.

We hope others are as safe as these people as well.
