Kota Kinabalu: Universiti of Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Vice Chancellor Datuk Dr Tawfiq Yap Yun Hin said new challenges due to climate change and overfishing are key drivers for researchers at the university’s Borneo Marine Research and Institute (BMRI) to continue pushing ahead to explore, adapt and scale-up available technologies to ensure their research stay relevant to society.
“At the BMRI, our researchers under the Marine Science Programme have carried out extensive research relevant to the field, including lab trials in the development of sustainable fish feed, studying feeding behaviors, as well as diseases that affect fish in aquaculture,” he said.
