Kota Kinabalu: The sporadic Covid-19 infection rate in the State remains high at 60.4 per cent of 1,154 new cases reported on Thursday, said State Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

“Symptomatic cases consistently account for the most cases in most districts in Sabah,” he said in a statement, Thursday.

“Today (Thursday), 21 of the 27 districts recorded symptomatic cases or sporadic infections as the main contributor of additional cases.”

He added that only two districts registered three-digit new cases, namely Kota Kinabalu with 265, and Papar (109).

“Nineteen other districts recorded two-digit new cases, while four districts – Nabawan, Kunak, Tongod and Kalabakan – registered one-digit new cases, and Semporna was the only district that did not record any additional case,” he said.

The top five districts with the most new cases on Thursday were Kota Kinabalu (265), Papar (109), Tuaran (91), Beaufort (86) and Sandakan (76).

Some 1,138 or 98.61 of ThursdayÆs new cases are in Category 1 and 2, seven in Category 3, five in Category 4 and four in Category 5.

Sabah’s tally stood at 357,046 cases, as of Thursday, and the State also recorded 1,817 recoveries, making the cumulative total of 323,931.

On Thursday, four deaths were recorded, with one each in Sandakan, Kota Belud, Tenom and Keningau.

Persiaran Palma, a workplace cluster, ended on Thursday.

The cluster involved Tuaran, Papar and Penampang. To date, there are 30 active clusters in Sabah.

Some 9,813 individuals were vaccinated on March 9 (Wednesday). Of these, 7,584 were adults, 121 were adolescents and 2,108 children.

As of Wednesday, cumulatively 2.4 million individuals in the State were fully vaccinated with 76.84 per cent being the adult population.
