Former Liverpool coach Andy O'Boyle could take up the deputy director of football position at Manchester United, per the Daily Mail.

The Red Devils are hoping to appoint someone with football expertise to assist John Murtough, who is the primary director of football at present.

O'Boyle is head of elite performance with the Premier League at present.

His expertise is in sports science, but he is thought to have a general and varied experience of different roles within football clubs.

O'Boyle did spend some time at United's academy in 2006, before he went to work with Wrexham's first-team.
