Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch revealed he has been contacted by Manchester United counterpart Ralf Rangnick since his appointment at Elland Road.

The American has replaced Marcelo Bielsa in the Leeds hot-seat, signing a contract until 2025.

Marsch worked under Rangnick at the Red Bull Group, assisting him whilst the German was in charge of RB Leipzig.

And the 48-year-old admits he is "thankful" he doesn't have to face his former mentor this season.

He said, via Leeds Live: "Rangnick introduced complex football tactical and ideas to me in a way that ignited my passion for being a top manager. Thankful we are not playing them down the stretch.

"He sent me a note and that was great. A good luck note."
