Sweden coach Janne Andersson insists Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga will be selected on merit.
Capping Elanga this week will end doubts about his international commitment, with the midfielder also qualifying for England and Cameroon.
Andersson said, "That's not how I think. Elanga has told me that it is the Swedish national team that applies to him 100 percent.
"So I'm not going to start him on that basis. I trust what he has said."
Sweden face Czech Republic in their World Cup playoff this week.
