SEMPORNA: The Marine Police Force (PPM) seized a total of 360 cartons of cigarettes believed smuggled into the country during a raid at a house in Kg Tanjung Kapor, Tuesday.
Commander DSP Mohamad Ismail said the team discovered the ‘Astro Hijau’ brand cigarettes in the room. He said the raid was carried out following information from the Marine Intelligence Unit.
“Under the Customs Act 1967, the seizure was taken to the PPM Semporna Operations Headquarters for further action.
“Based on current market prices, the value of the contraband cigarettes is estimated to be RM48,960,” he said.
