Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson praised the goalscoring performance of Luis Diaz in victory at Brighton.

The Reds secured another vital three points at the Amex Stadium to keep up the pressure on league leaders Manchester City thanks to goals from Diaz and Mohamed Salah.

The 25-year-old Colombian showed bravery to open the scoring with a header as he nodded past Robert Sanchez before being clattered by the Seagulls goalkeeper.

Salah then added a second from the penalty spot to score his 20th goal of the top-flight campaign in the second half following an Yves Bissouma handball.

Speaking to BT Sport post-match, Henderson said of Diaz's contribution on the south coast: “Again, [he was] top-class.

“We've said it for weeks now, he's come in and done fantastically well. With the ball it's the quality he possesses, without the ball it's the work-rate and winning the ball back.

“[It was] another big performance from him. It was an important goal for us at that time in the game and another big performance from him and another big performance from the team to get the three points."
