Kota Kinabalu: A company was fined RM5,000 for having two unregistered products.
Sessions Court Judge Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim meted out the sentence to Total Reach Marketing Sdn Bhd after its representative pleaded guilty to the charge against the company.
The two unregistered products were Nature’s Gift C Complex (19 bottles) and Nature’s gift Spirulina.
The offence took place at 11am on Sept 24, 2020 on company premises at Plaza Tanjung Aru, here. The offence under Regulation 7 (1)(a) of the Control of Drugs and Cosmetic Regulations 1984 carries a jail term of up to three years, or a fine of up to RM25,000 or both, on conviction. The company’s representative pleaded for leniency.
However, the prosecution urged the court to impose an appropriate sentence on the grounds that the unregistered products were a danger to public health. The company paid the fine.
