Arsenal have received a boost with news that Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz could be sold this summer.
The Birmingham-based club are looking at Leeds United's Kalvin Phillips, as he is someone manager Steven Gerrard admires greatly.
According to the Daily Mail, Gerrard is so eager to secure Phillips that he could part with Luiz to make the numbers work.
Luiz has played regularly under Gerrard, but his contract expires in 2023.
The club may feel that unless he is undisputed first choice, they can cash in on him this summer to help Gerrard secure his main targets.
If that is the case, Arsenal are likely to throw their hat in the ring to secure his signature after making a failed move in January.
