THE Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) State Government is committed to ensuring no more delays in the implementation of development projects for the people.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor wants all heads of state and federal departments to ensure all projects that received budget approval for the Second Rolling Plan of 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) are implemented immediately so the people can quickly benefit.
He stressed there is no more reason to delay on excuses like the Covid-19 pandemic.
Doing so would be detrimental to the people and the Government, as well as denying the people the right to the benefits they should receive.
Not to mention increase in implementation cost.
“All projects must be implemented immediately, especially projects in the form of ‘touch points’. All agencies must try to facilitate the implementation of all projects that have been approved and not the other way round,” he said when chairing the State Development Action Council (MTPNg) Meeting No. 1/2022 at Menara Kinabalu, Kota Kinabalu, on Mar 4.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister II cum Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, Rural Development Minister Datuk Jahid Jahim, Special Tasks Minister Datuk Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif, Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Minister Datuk Shahelmey Yahya, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ellron Angin, State Secretary Datuk Seri Safar Untong and Sabah Federal Secretary Dato’ Sarul Bahiyah Abu.
Hajiji said economic activities must continue to move and development programmes or projects must be intensified, apart from the education system that must continue to run.
“Therefore, we need to double our drive, draw up a solid action plan, plan a powerful strategy and chart a reasonable milestone that gives a high impact not only to the organisation but to the people in need,” he said.
The Chief Minister said there were some improvement in the key strategy and structure of Order No. 1, 2022, among them are the re-establishment of the State Development Action Committee (JTPNg) chaired by the State Secretary, the committee for the State-level People’s Wellbeing Focus Group (FGN), also chaired by the State Secretary, and the District Level People’s Wellbeing Focus Group (FGD) chaired by district officers.
Hajiji called on all committees to play their appropriate roles and functions in ensuring the implementation of the meeting in accordance with the stipulations of Order No. 1, 2022.
“If there are problems or issues in the implementation of development programmes or projects that cannot be resolved at the district level, then they must be submitted to the next level as specified in the structure of the order,” he said.
Hajiji also announced the appointment of the State Attorney General Datuk Nor Asiah Mohd Yusof as a new member of MTPNg Sabah, in accordance with Order No. 1 Year 2022.
