Terengganu optimistic about hitting target of 20,000 housing units: MB

KUALA NERUS – The Terengganu government has managed to build more than 18,000 out of the targeted 20,000 housing units for the people as offered in the manifesto in the last general election.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said he was optimistic his government would be able to achieve the target by 2023 through strategic cooperation between the state government and private housing developers.

He said the effort to fulfil the manifesto was proof of the state government’s wish for the people, especially the low-income group, to own comfortable homes.

“This includes the construction of 162 units of affordable flats in Kg Banggol Pauh which is expected to be completed in February 2024.

“For this project, the state government has allocated RM41 million including a subsidy of RM65,000 for each housing unit,” he told reporters after officiating the groundbreaking ceremony for the Banggol Pauh project here today.

The project comes with several facilities such as surau, kindergartens, stalls, and guardhouses with the construction cost of one unit costing RM145,000 but offered to the people at only RM80,000.

Applications for the units can be made through https://eperumahan.terengganu.gov.my and eligibility depends on the conditions set. – Bernama, March 16, 2022
