Crystal Palace co-owner John Textor is prepared to invest up to £40 million to increase his 40 per cent stake in the team.
Textor is one of the owners of the club, along with Josh Harris and David Blitzer.
The duo are part of a consortium that could purchase Chelsea from Roman Abramovich.
The two Americans have a 22 percent stake in Palace, and would have to sell that ownership stake if they are to purchase part of Chelsea.
According to the Evening Standard, Textor is prepared to put in sufficient funding to secure that ownership stake, if it becomes necessary.
He is also willing to split the cost with chairman Steve Parish, who has first refusal on the shares.
