Atalanta general manager Luca Percassi has hit out at Serie A authorities after reaching the Europa League quarterfinals.
"We are very happy, it was a hard-fought game against a strong team and obviously being in the quarter-final is a reason to feel proud for the club, the city and the fans who came here tonight," Percassi told Sky Italia.
“I dedicate this win to everyone in the Atalanta orbit."
Asked if La Dea is happier in Europe than Serie A, Percassi continued: “Good question. We are doing well in Serie A too and are getting players back from injury for the final sprint. We were also penalised in Serie A.
“What we earn, we do it on the pitch without gifts from anyone.
“Atalanta were badly damaged in Serie A this season, but we continue working. Participating in a European competition is always something extraordinary for Atalanta, even if it's happening more frequently lately, but it will always be difficult.
“The best thing is that every time we achieve this objective, we do it without forgetting where we came from."
