SEMPORNA: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) intercepted an attempt to smuggle in 36,000 sticks of contraband cigarettes in the waters of Kg Alor at 4.30am, here, Saturday.
The team also seized empty barrels, believed to be meant for smuggling petrol out, according to Semporna Maritime Zone Director Commander Norrimi Hassan.
