KUALA LUMPUR – Two men who were swimming in Sg Klang were found dead after being swept away by the river’s currents yesterday.

The Pakistani nationals were reported missing after being seen in the river near SMK La Salle in Jalan Tun Sambanthan here.

A spokesman from Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department’s operation centre said the department was alerted of the incident at about 12.09pm and 18 firefighters from Jalan Hang Tuah and Puchong fire stations were deployed.

The first body was found nearby Seri Petaling Jamek Mosque, about 6km from where he was reported missing at 4.07pm, while the second body was found at the river basin in Kg Tengah, about 12km from the missing spot, three minutes later.

Meanwhile, Brickfields district police chief Amihizam Abdul Shukor said in a statement that the search and rescue operations also included police officers and City Hall personnel.
