JOHOR BAHRU: Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin said Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) need the people’s mandate to win the Johor state election and reclaim control of the Johor Government.
He said winning the election this time would restore the State’s reputation as a platform for the people’s interests and wellbeing.
“We see Johor as one of the most developed states in Malaysia with strong investment inflows, causing the State to grow swiftly during the era of BN rule.
“The rapid economic growth during the BN era also brought wealth and wellbeing to the people,” he said during a meeting between BN machinery from Sabah and Johor with BN candidates in Ulu Tiram, here, recently.
Also present were Tebrau BN Chairman Datuk Maulizan Bujang, Tiram BN candidate Szizul Bachok, BN candidate OPutri Wanga Ng Yew Aku, Johor BN candidate Jaua Chan San and Permas BN candidate Baharudin Mohd Taib.
Bung, who is also Sabah BN Chairman, urged the BN machinery to remain focused and not to be negligent or influenced by those seeking to cause confusion.
He said all planned strategies must be organised.
“Our struggle is not like the opposition’s assertion of craving for power; rather, as a political party, it is natural to want to be trusted by the people and fight for their interests,” he said.
Bung, who is also Sabah Umno Chief, said Malaysia had experienced the failure of a government that had governed the country for 22 months before falling apart.
For the previous 18 months, he said the administration had failed to care for the people, requiring Umno to act to replace the government.
“This is a totally different scenario from Umno, which was defeated in the 14th General Election by propaganda of unending lies,” he said.
