Kota Kinabalu: More unvaccinated children are getting admitted to hospital ICUs in Sabah, said an official.
Kota Kinabalu Health Officer Dr Suhaila Osman said the recent Omicron has resulted in an increase in Covid-19 infections among children aged 12 and below.
"According to data analysis from the Sabah Health Department, the number of children admitted to the ICU has increased because they have never received the vaccine before," she told the media after an integrated operation with the police, City Hall and the National City Council, Thursday.
"As a result, there is a possibility that the number of infections involving this group will rise."
Suhaila also said only 14 percent, or 60,000, of the district's 411,400 children aged five to eleven have been vaccinated.
