Vote Out The Dinosaurs. Go for the Virgin Candidates in the forthcoming Johor Polls

A young man who just turned 19 came to visit. He was excited about the coming Johor election. As soon as he sat down he asked everyone around the table, “How should I vote?”
This is an unsolicited advice for him and the rest of the voters in Johor.
(Do not read the rest, if you had made up your mind!)
When you get to the ballot box on 12th March, vote out the dinosaurs. Do not hesitate even for a minute
It matters not what their names are, who their fathers or grandfathers were which party they belonged to or in which little village they were born. Or which schools or colleges they went to.
Forget about party sentiments. To change the political landscape you, the voter, have to be clear about the future.
A dinosaur means it is an old, outdated, encumbered, tainted being that can no longer be rehabilitated.
Forget whatever propaganda machinery of any party might be telling you about these dinosaurs. They are all outdated. They were part of the former political landscape. Like old machinery that have outlived its usefulness, they have to be replaced
An old politician, like dinosaurs, no matter how squeaky clean he might sound is not what he seems to be. He had been in the system for a long time and he knew how to skin the cat. He knew which side of the bread was buttered. He knew whom to “lick” and how intense. He would be as dishonourable as any seasoned politician in the country. The real reason he or his colleagues entered political life was not to serve the country but to serve themselves! They are not worthy of the title “Right Honourable”! Or “Yang Berhormat”!.
Don’t trust any old politician. They are all unscrupulous, on the take, if not in cash it would be in kind. Some might not have accepted a single illegal ringgit (duit haram), in his life but might have traded favours, on the sly, instead.
Choose a young, unsullied, unencumbered candidate, who might be naive about life but an ethical individual who had never been an elected member of the state assembly, to represent you.
Like any new broom he is yet untarnished, not compromised and have not really tasted corruption. He would be better than any of the older and unscrupulous party member.
Don’t just vote for any”fresh new face” either, as promised by his party if he had been in the system for many years but were bypassed. These are the most dangerous candidates. He would be the one that would have to make up for lost time. He had watched how his predecessors made their money while he sat on the ringside, eating peanuts yet had spent so much of his own money working for the party.
Go for the really new ones. He must be absolutely new to politics. A “virgin politician”, you might say, if there was such a term.
The young man, nodded, smiled broadly at me and replied, “Wow, I didn’t know there were dinosaurs still roaming around in Johor?”
He ate all the goreng pisang in front of him, thanked everyone and left.
After he was gone I thought for a long while and wondered if it would have been better had I just said, “Don’t vote for any old politician!”
