Ajax coach Erik ten Hag blew a past interview with Tottenham, it has been revealed.
Ten Hag held talks with Spurs last summer as Daniel Levy looked for Jose Mourinho's successor.
But the Daily Mail says he failed to convince the Tottenham hierarchy he was the right man for the job.
His personality was apparently too bland to take on the role in charge of a squad in need of motivating and leading back into the top four.
The report adds Ten Hag only intended to bring one coach with him, Sjors Ultee, whereas most new bosses arrive with a whole backroom staff. And his English was described as "no more than adequate".
Less than a year on, the Dutchman has been interviewed for the vacant Manchester United manager's role.
