Valencia striker Maxi Gomez was delighted to score in victory over Granada on Saturday.

Maxi recognises Valencia needed a win after a form slump.

He said, "I'm very happy with the work by the team, and also with the goal. I'm always looking to score, and sometimes you can't do that. Today I managed to, and I'm really pleased. It was a phenomenal cross from Carlos Soler, and we know how much class he has.

"We'd had a very poor run at home in front of our fans. We're very happy to have ended that. The support from the fans was fundamental. I always say that they are our twelfth man, and the players are all very grateful to them for supporting us like that. I'm happy about the victory and we have to keep on this path .

"I think a striker always wants to score goals. Sometimes you have to work for the team but today I'm very happy because I was able to score."
