Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale was ruled out of today's clash with Aston Villa due to injury.

Ramsdale is absent from this afternoon's Premier League clash with Aston Villa after suffering a hip injury.

The former Sheffield United goalkeeper has been a huge success since his summer arrival from the Blades, establishing himself as Mikel Arteta's No1.

Mikel Arteta has said Ramsdale will be out for “a few weeks".

That will rule him out of the England squad for friendlies against Switzerland and Ivory Coast over the next 10 days.

There has been talk that the 23-year-old could usurp long-term No1 Jordan Pickford ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.

Bernd Leno stepped in for Ramsdale to start for Arsenal today.
