Kuala Lumpur: AirAsia has started repaying the RM300 million loan it obtained from the Sabah Development Bank (SDB) which was approved under the previous Warisan-Plus State Government.

Its CEO Riad Asmat told Daily Express this was in line with its obligation when securing the facility which became a controversy then, in view of airlines facing problems staying afloat following the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.

"We have started repaying it. It was a loan and we are following the necessary understanding (with the State Government)," he said.

However, he did not state the time frame within which it would be settled.
