Rangers great Ally McCoist believes Leicester City will be stronger after working through their form slump.

Questions have been raised by Rodgers' future in some quarters, but Scotland and Rangers legend McCoist believes City are well-placed to move up the table next season under the former Celtic boss.

“It is a transitional period," said McCoist on talkSPORT. “Brendan's interview [after the Brentford game] was great. The boy suggested that Leicester were doing fine, they're doing all right and Brendan was like 'we don't want to be just all right'. I get where he's coming from.

“They're having a season where they're taking one or two steps back from where they've been to take one or two steps forward. They've taken a wee step back to reassess themselves, to regroup.

“Like a lot of clubs, they've had a tough time with injuries to key players. But they'll be absolutely fine and I expect them to progress next season with Brendan."
