Local reporter Hakim Zhouri told Football Club Marseille: "Romain Saïss is at the end of his contract this summer. There had been negotiations (for an extension) but which did not come to anything, in any case until now. He said himself that he did not close the door.
"His salary is not high for the Premier League because his agent negotiated badly at the time before the club started to grow. It went from 80,000 to around €130,000 per month. There has been an upgrade, but for the Premier League it's still very average, low. It looks more like an average Ligue 1 salary.
"He has the profile to replace Kamara, it could be a good idea. It should be noted that Romain Saïss has always been a supporter of OM. He is from Drôme and his favorite club is OM. When you were a supporter of OM as a kid, it can bring the lines closer during a negotiation. Especially if OM participate in a European Cup, it can be an advantage over Lyon, which is a bit off the hook in Ligue 1."
