Is RM33.90 For 3 Packs of Wanton Mee Too Costly? M’sians Agree & Relate It To Increased Price of Goods

Soon after the announcement of the revised RM1,500 minimum wage which will begin on 1 May, we are also expected to see a hike in the prices of goods soon enough. Or, has the increase already taken place?

Recently, in a Facebook group known as 吃的平台, a netizen has shared an experience where she was shocked to find out the price of her to-go order. According to the receipt, she had ordered 3 packs of Wanton noodles in Tebrau Jaya, Johor Bahru which costed her RM33.90, with each pack priced at RM11.30.

If you’re wondering what else came with the wanton noodles, she revealed in the comment sections that each pack of noodles came with 3 pieces of wanton, some char siew (pork), vegetables and lard.

 

Everything goes up and up now

Her post has gained attention from other netizens and most of them agree that the price is on the high side but inevitable due to the increased price of goods.

“The price of ingredients are going up crazily. Since February, the price of pork has increased 5 times. Flour has also seen an increase as much as 30% in its price.”

“That’s expensive!”

“Everything increases nowadays except our monthly wages.”

With our country entering the endemic phase in a matter of days, we should brace ourselves for more increase in prices of goods as more businesses have already started to do so. It’s time to save up and spend wisely whenever we can!
