Newcastle players were called into Sunday training today after victory over Brighton.

Howe has guided his team to eight matches unbeaten in the Premier League. They will now head to Southampton for a Thursday night fixture which could see them smash through the 30 point barrier.

Speaking after the 2-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion, Howe said his players would be in for training and a debrief: "Yes we are. "We're in tomorrow. We know the schedule's jam-packed full of games, and we need to be physically ready for each test."

Howe's squad were visited by co-owners Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi in the dressing rooms after the match. Newcastle moved seven points clear of the drop zone.

Howe added: "I saw the players in the dressing room afterwards and it's a good sign. They're pleased, but they're not over the top in how they are feeling. They know we are still in the midst of a very important spell."
