Following the elections in Johor, the new state chief minister, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, was ushered in to start his first day of work on Wednesday, 16 March.
But netizens were not happy with how that went.
Malaysia Gazette took to their Twitter page to showcase a video of workers fixing a red carpet to welcome Datuk Onn Hafiz for his first day.
They wrote, “Preparations to welcome the 19th Prime Minister (of Johor), Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, who is expected to be ‘clocking in’ at 10am and will start his first day as the Menteri Besar of Johor.”
Now, there are 2 things that angered netizens
For one, they believe the whole red carpet thing was completed unnecessary.
“I got tired while queuing to vote not to watch you walk on a red carpet, just go straight to your office and start working.”
Others pointed out that clocking in at 10am seems a little late
“Office hours are 8am to 5pm, is he coming in at 10am because he went to get breakfast first? What is the red carpet for?”
We genuinely hope that Datuk Onn Hafiz puts in just as much work as he is celebrated by his peers, especially since they are willing to have a red carpet installed on his first day.
