Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is under serious consideration at Manchester United.

The Mirror says Hasenhuttl has been added to the Manchester United managerial shortlist after some impressive results with the south coast club.

Although PSG's former Spurs and Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino and Ajax's Erik ten Hag are still the front runners Hasenhuttl's name has been mentioned amongst the Old Trafford hierarchy.

Current interim boss Ralf Rangnick was already well aware of the Austrian's coaching capabilities when the pair worked together at RB Leipzig.

Two Premier League draws against champions Manchester City made the United decision makers, who include football director John Murtough and technical director Darren Fletcher, take notice of Hasenhuttl's work.

It's a name they are prepared to consider if they fail to land either of their first choices.

Like Pochettino, Hasenhuttl has forged a growing reputation for himself at Southampton and has attracted the attention of some leading continental sides in addition to Manchester United.

He is ambitious and would jump at the chance of managing a club like United and will await the expected moves for Pochettino and ten Hag with interest.
