Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s daily Covid-19 infections fell below the 300 mark on Saturday, with 269 cases reported, a decrease of 103 from Friday’s 372 cases.

Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said Kota Kinabalu recorded the largest drop in new infections, with only 36 cases compared to 96 on Friday.

“Penampang also recorded the same number of cases as Kota Kinabalu, which is 17 cases lower than the previous day,” he said in a statement, Saturday.

Putatan and Papar recorded a marginal decrease, but Tuaran’s cases rose by three to 26.

A total of 15 districts recorded below 10 cases, a sign that Sabah is heading into a stabilisation phase.

Nine districts recorded double-digit cases, while Semporna, Telupid and Tongod did not record any cases.

“The percentage of sporadic infections is still high at 57.62 per cent, meaning that the risk of infection remains high, especially in crowded public places,” he said.

A total of 266 people or 98.89 per cent of the 269 new patients on Saturday are in Category 1 and 2, and three in Category 4.

There are no patients in Category 3 and Category 5.
